There is one thing the photograph must contain, the humanity of the moment. This kind of photography is realism. But realism is not enough - there has to be vision, and the two together can make a good photograph.

Sunday, December 16.
Venice Beach Boardwalk.

Venice rarely disappoints. If you have the light, a crowd, and good shoes, you can't help but come away with something.

The Facebook event had 19 confirmed participants and 200 who had marked themselves as "interested," and you know what that means: we get 20 people or 2. People are so funny on Facebook...

There were 5 of us total, but 2 arrived late and didn't connect up with us until later. We started at Golden Hour and worked our way down the boardwalk into Venice proper and ended with the Venice Electric Light Parade getting ready to roll out after dark.

From there we had some dinner and the group adjourned for the night. I decided to go back to the Santa Monica Pier for some solo shooting (and I'm really glad that I did), but I'll break that out into its own post.

If you're in LA or plan to be, hit and like my Facebook page. I add an LA photowalk event on a near-monthly basis. Come play!
